Plumber Misconceptions

Plumber “Misconceptions” because nobody likes to be called a liar… but whoever spread these certainly wasn’t telling the truth about us! This month we’d like to educate people on some common misconceptions we hear on our day to day at Tony’s. For starters, no two people are exactly the same, so I’ll bet you can imagine that no two plumbing companies are the same, either. These are misconceptions that float around about all plumbers, and while we can vouch for ourselves, we can’t vouch for all the plumbers around town.

• First and foremost, who spread the rumor that we’ve all got plumbers cracks!? Plumbers, much to our chagrin, are labeled as sloppy, messy individuals that don’t clean up after themselves. That is not what Tony’s is about. We pride ourselves on being cleanly, and leaving the area we’ve repaired in the best shape we can. We aim to respect you and your home, so let us know if we haven’t!
• Plumbers tack on hidden fees. Like we said earlier, we can’t speak for everyone, but at Tony’s we aim to be as clear with you about job costs as possible. We do an assessment and will discuss it with you before we start the job. Then once we’ve begun, if there’s any additional costs or items needed for the repair, we will discuss it with you right away. There will be no suspicious lines tacked onto your invoice, because we take our work seriously and want you to, too. If you ever have questions about a bill you’ve received, you’ve got our number! 
• Plumbers think they know better than the customer. This one is half true, we do feel we know plumbing better than you. That’s why you called us, right? We do however, not know the problem better than you! We will ask clarifying, concise questions to properly understand and diagnose what you are struggling with. Our goal is to solve your problem. We aren’t there for any other reason than to get to the bottom of what’s affecting your home, and to solve it. 
• You’ll save money doing the repairs yourself. Wrong! This simply is not true, and might be untrue for plumbers everywhere. You can count on this being wrong in most situations involving your plumbing, because even the commercial decloggers on the market are bad for your pipes. There are some basic things that can be solved at home, but for any big plumbing repair it’s best to call in a professional. We are professionals for a reason, and it’s not because we’re better at DIY than you, it’s because we have training and the skills to do the job.
