As a homeowner, facing a minor plumbing issue can be frustrating, but having a few essential tools can help you tackle some fixes yourself and save money on a plumber. Here's a list of the essential plumbing tools every homeowner should consider having on hand:
Plungers:
  • Toilet Plunger: A toilet plunger is designed for unclogging toilets. Its large flange creates suction to clear clogs within the toilet trap.
  • Sink Plunger: A sink plunger, typically smaller than a toilet plunger, is suitable for unclogging drains in sinks, tubs, and showers.
Wrenches:
  • Adjustable Wrench: This versatile wrench adjusts to fit different nut and bolt sizes, making it useful for tightening or loosening various plumbing connections.
  • Basin Wrench: A basin wrench has a narrow head designed to reach nuts and fittings around sinks and faucets, especially helpful in tight spaces.
Other Essential Tools:
  • Plunger with Replaceable Heads: A plunger with interchangeable heads offers specific heads for sinks, toilets, and even tubs and showers, providing more versatility.
  • Pipe Wrench: This wrench is designed for gripping and turning pipes, useful for tightening or loosening pipe fittings.
  • Hacksaw: A hacksaw can be used to cut through pipes made of various materials, such as PVC or copper, during repairs or installations.
  • Plumber's Tape: Also known as Teflon tape, plumber's tape wraps around pipe threads to create a watertight seal when connecting pipes and fittings.
  • Bucket and Rags: A bucket can be used to collect water during repairs and rags are handy for wiping up spills or cleaning up after the job.
By having these essential plumbing tools on hand, you can address many minor plumbing issues yourself, saving time and avoiding the cost of a plumber's visit. Remember, for complex plumbing problems or situations beyond your comfort level, we're here to help!

Emergency Plumbing Kit

You can find emergency kits out there for everything. So we thought why not have your own plumbing emergency kit? Plumbing emergencies are just as likely, if not likelier, than other emergencies. While we don’t recommend long term fixes come out of these emergency kits, we do recommend short term problem solving to keep the damage at bay before a professional can take a look! So here goes, a quick guide on your very own Plumbing Emergency Kit.
  1. The Plunger. When you think of plumbing, isn’t that a mildly iconic image? You naturally float to a plunger... because it’s effective. So we of course think it belongs in your emergency plumbing kit!
  2. Gloves. This is for the jobs on the nastier side of things, because unfortunately people use toilets and toilets clog. See item one on help with clogs!
  3. Wrenches! Whether you chose to have a set of wrenches, or an adjustable one, these can save you a lot of trouble in the event you have any loose nuts or bolts.
  4. Rags. These are a great, helpful item to have on hand in case you’re dealing with an overflow or some kind of spill. Where there’s plumbing, there’s water.
  5. Duct tape. Again, this emergency kit is for short term fixes only, so duct tape is a handy tool to close off a small leak until your plumber can arrive. The sooner you stop the running water, the more damage you’re avoiding.
  6. Flashlight. Your plumbing is typically always kept hidden from plain site, so it’s going to be in the dark. You want to keep a flashlight on hand so you can see what you’re working on!
  7. A really big bucket. A bucket is effective for when you’re dealing with leaks to catch water, but also works as a container for all your other items!
Plumbing mishaps can range anywhere on the scale of no big deal to a horrifying nightmare. Your emergency kit should get you through the small stuff, and help you hold your ground while you wait through the big stuff for a plumber. Everyone has plumbing issues and has to call a plumber sometimes, don’t be one of the people that puts it off and has to call us for a compounded issue! As we mentioned a couple times above, if you have a bad problem, call us. We aim to do the best job possible for every customer, and are here for all the plumbing needs you may have!
